Do you know the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils? Essential oils are oils that are naturally extracted in various ways directly from plants. However, this does not mean that all plants contain essential oils. Essential oils have been known to be used in aromatherapy to help de-stress, help with muscle pain, skin problems and more.

Cold Process and Winners

Did you know that even in the cold process of making soap you still need heat? In order for the fat to melt the temperature needs to raise, making sure the fat is completed melted before being added to the soap. In this process, the measurements need to be exact to make sure that the soap does not have any extra ingredients, such as fat.

Making of Soap

Did you know that there are three ways to make soap? They are the semi-boiled process, cold process and fully boiled process. In the semi-boiled process which is also called hot-processed. There are two common ways that soap is created in the semi-boiled process, Double Boiler Hot Process (DBHP) and Crock Pot Hot Processes (CPHP).

Soap in the 18th Century

Around the 16th Century, soap began to use vegetable oil instead of animal fat. Production of soap was mainly produced by small manufacturers. It was not until the 18th Century that soap production was industrialized. One chemical creation that helped increase soap production was the ability to create alkali, a major ingredient in soap, from the sulfates of potash and soda. James Keir was the creator of this chemical creation.
