Did you know that in ancient Greece, Greeks would use perfumed on themselves to please the gods? Believing that any substances coming from plants had spiritual qualities, the Greeks would use herbs and perfume oil to honor their deities in festivals. The Greeks would also use perfumed oil on themselves as well to please the gods. Unlike other societies, perfumed oil was used in all levels of society.

Did you know in the early history of India, perfumed oils played a huge role in religious rites in India? Along with herbs, perfumed oils were used to remove impure spirits from worshippers. Cinnamon, coriander, ginger, myrrh, and sandalwood were/still are some of the oils and herbs used today. Working with herbs and aromatic oils are still somewhat considered a sacred task in India.

History of Essential Oil part-3

Perfume oil and incense were very precious in religious practices. Ancient Babylonians became a major supplier of plants for aromatic plant scents. Cedarwood, cypress, myrtle, and pine were some of the main aromatic scents that were used by Babylonians and Sumerians.
